Could Oshkosh be Losing Another Administrator?

As I was surfing the net I came across this story from the Journal Sentinel. The basics:

Waukesha - The School Board has narrowed its search for a new superintendent to two finalists - the superintendent of the Cudahy School District and the deputy superintendent of the Oshkosh School District - and could announce a decision later this week.

I wonder what this will mean for the district. Will it make things that much harder to find a superintendent if the district is also looking for a business director? It hasn't been all that easy to keep a business director in this district. I guess we will see sooner rather than later.

Good eye, Teresa. Thank you for the info. I haven't seen this anywhere else in local media, even from those who "closely follow" district happenings.

The Waukesha Freeman has announced that a decision has been made- but the board is not releasing the name- presumably waiting for acceptance and terms to be agreed on.

According to the Northwestern, Mr. Gray has accepted the job in
Waukesha. http://www.thenorthwestern.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080606/OSH0101/80606116/1987

The previous Supt. in Waukesha made $144,000 in salary and another $47,000+ in benefits. The article did not say what Mr. Gray will be making in Waukesha.

I guess the question I have is, should the board hire one of the two people in the district with a Supt. license or should they cast their net wide and see what potential candidates are out there? I guess I'm not convinced that just because someone has a particular license that makes them the right "fit" for a job. Wondering what others think...

I agree that it's never a bad thing to look outside your own back yard to see what's there, especially when you've expressed such unhappiness with those who've already been camping out in your own back yard. And as far as having a license being a reason to automatically hire someone, that's just foolhardy. Lots of people have a driver's license but how many do we see who shouldn't be on the road?

Anonymous 6:52 -- You make an excellent point (I see plenty of drivers who shouldn't be on the road!)
